Mike Larson
Meet Mike – Guitar & Ukulele
Mike is the founder of Thrive Music School, which he runs alongside his wife, and he brings over a decade of teaching experience to every lesson. With nearly 20 years of experience leading bands, Mike has a passion for equipping the next generation of musicians. He started Thrive to create a safe, encouraging space where students could grow musically and spiritually, especially those looking to serve in their church communities.In addition to teaching guitar and ukulele, Mike loves mentoring students to not just play songs, but to become confident, creative musicians.
Fun fact: Before starting Thrive, Mike spent four years teaching in China—a season that deepened his love for both education and cross-cultural connection.

No problem! We’ll guide you through choosing the right instrument for your budget and needs. Our teachers also help you set it up properly so your student starts on the right foot.

We start private lessons at age 5. For younger students, we offer group “Intro to Music” classes designed to help them explore rhythm, melody, and instruments in a fun, age-appropriate way.

Lessons are month-to-month, cancel anytime. We don’t believe in strict contracts—music should fit your life, not the other way around.

We ask for at least 12 hours’ notice so we can respect our teachers’ time. If you can’t make a lesson, we’ll do our best to reschedule. If that’s not possible, your credit is saved until you’re ready to use it.

We offer 30, 45, and 60-minute lessons based on age, goals, and experience level.
30 minutes: $34 per lesson or $138 per month
45 minutes: $46 per lesson
(Ask us about 60-minute lessons if your student is advanced or preparing for performances.)

Nope—no registration fees, no surprises. The only optional extra cost is a small venue fee if your student participates in a recital.

Yes! We host 2–3 major recitals each year based on student and parent interest. These events give students a chance to shine and celebrate their progress.

Lessons are held at Thrive Church Apopka: 951 N Park Ave, Apopka, FL 32712. It’s a safe, convenient, family-friendly location with plenty of parking.

We teach students of all ages—kids, teens, and adults. Adults often enjoy digging into the mechanics of music, but if that’s not your thing, no worries. We’ll focus on the practicals and get you playing the songs you actually want to play, fast.
